creating keepsakes has a new book out right now, called the organized & inspired scrapbooker. and let me tell you, it's a gorgeous book!

LAOIScover1

i'm a huge sucker for organization. and organizing scrapbooking supplies is one of my favorite things to organize. it's also a necessity. it's so easy to become overwhelmed and buried in pattern paper, stickers, and photos. and all the other goodies that we use to preserve our memories. which is why i feel it's so important to stay organized, and come up with a plan for what works for you and the scrap space that you're working with.

and this book is full of great ideas and tips. it originally came out a few years ago, and was a hardcover book. just in case a few of you think it might look a bit familiar πŸ˜‰ there are 176 pages, filled with ideas. everything from finding your organizing style, organizing your supplies and tools, finding a system for your photo storage, organizing memorabilia, and so much more. and lots of photos of all different kinds of scraproom and studios.

here's a peek into a few pages from the book.

if you're thinking about ordering a copy of this gorgeous book, i have a coupon code to share with you. it's the same one that i mentioned last week, for the digital book. just use coupon code DS25DT, to get free shipping on orders of $25 or more (expires 2/11/11).

and creating keepsakes has provided me with a copy of the organized and inspired scrapbooker to give away to one lucky blog reader. all you need to do, is leave me a comment, telling me one simple organizing tip. i'll leave comments open until thursday night, and will announce a winner on friday morning.

and to go along with this theme, i also wanted to share that it is organization week (click to see what they have planned for the week) over on the CK editors blog, as well as the CK club site. check back in each day to see what they have going on.

today, on the CK blog, you'll find all sorts of tips and ideas for storing scrapbooking tools. i think i even spotted a few storage tips from my own scraproom πŸ˜‰ i have a few storage and organization posts planned for this week too.

To store extra packages of embellishments, I hung one of those over the door organizers (the kind with 4 hooks used for hanging up towels or bathrobes) on my scrap room door. Using the hanger hole on the pkg, i slip several pkgs onto jumbo metal binder rings and then just put the rings onto the hooks on the door. Holds tons and, when the door is open, you don’t even see them. Makes use of that dead space that wouldn’t otherwise be used,

When I buy entire collections (or almost an entire collection), I keep the paper, chipboard sheets and stickers together with a bull dog / binder clip and then stick it in my slotted jetmax cube. It’s a very simple way to keep everything together and easy to take apart!

That looks like a really good one! Thanks for the chance! I like to keep my patterned paper in labeled Cropper Hopper paper containers, then I put in my cubes I got at Michaels- they fit perfectly in the vertical holders!

I use clear plastic storage containers so I can see what I have (and not forget about what I already have). Even though I can see what is inside the containers, I labeled them with its contents.

I am a traveling scrapbooker. That means I don’t just scrap at home, so I have to be organized on the go. I use a milk crate on wheels (purchased from office depot) that Cropper Hopper containers fit nicely down into. I keep my solid papers in one crate, labeled and sorted by color and my design papers in another crate labeled and sorted by theme. Works great for traveling!

I want to win this! I am a sucker for organization! I make lots of cards, and organize them by category (birthday, thank you, etc.) I can just go to my card file when I need to give or send out a card.

Such an awesome giveaway! I am SO in need of that book right now!!! My cork boards that I use to tack up my supplies are falling apaprt and I need to find a new way to organize stuff in such a bad way. My organizing tip is that I find it much better to store my chipboard letters in those plastic sets of drawers (from the hardware section). One drawer per letter(all A’s in one all B’s in another etc). I have 2 sets of drawers one for upper case and one set for lower case. I painted them white with that plastic spray paint and voila! Perfect!

I am the least organized person EVER, so this book would be a great help. The only tip I’ve used that works for me is storing my ribbon by color in jars. Although that’s starting to become a mess as well, LOL! Thanks for the chance to win.

The only tip is to just do it – stay organized. Scrapping isn’t very fun when your supplies aren’t where you can access them.

Wow, that’s a fantastic giveaway! Thanks for the chance to win. My favorite thing that I use to organize is a plastic drawer organizer that is meant for a kitchen drawer to put batteries, etc. in. I use mine for brads, buttons, eyelets, all those little things. It has a lot of little compartments, I just open my drawer of my desk and it’s all right there organized by color. Those little embellies seem to be the hardest to keep track of and this works great.

I can’t scrap unless my room is organized. Have to have my paper in the cropper hopper vertical paper holders. Love baskets for my stamps, ribbon, flowers, mini albums and new stuff that I want to use. My #1 must have is my MM table top carousal that holds all of my goodies right there for me to grab and scrap.

I have a file folder box with files for each color of paper. I organize my scraps by color so that when I am working on a project and just need a little piece, I pull out the appropriate file instead of digging through a bin of mish-mosh. Currently my scrap room looks like “a bomb went off” according to my husband- so apparently, I am in need of this book!

I’ve wanted this book since the old edition went out of print but it was so so pricey after that. My tip…I keep my stickers organized onto large binder rings, with a label of who or what I bought them for. For example, unicorn stickers that remind me of my oldest niece would go on her ring.

I’ve been thinking a lot recently on how I can get (& more importantly stay!) better organized. Hopefully this book can provide me with some ideas.
My organization tip is to tidy up between projects & put everything back where it belongs. Saves so much time later when you’re looking for stuff.

What a great giveaway! My tip is to use a $1.99 clear plastic organizational box with about 36 rectangles. I use it to put my round yellow sponges, cut into 8 triangular pieces, that I use for my ink colors. Then on the top of the plastic box I put a small white sticker and write the name of the color ink so I know right where to put it back when I use it, and I don’t have to mix the ink colors on the sponges when I want to use red one day and yellow the next.

I love the color of this book and the photos you showed us, especially the last one. This would be so awesome to win because I’m finally turning half our family room into my scrap area and I NEED ideas to make it work. Please pick me as the number, I’m even willing to share it. After 3 months of memorizing it and getting my room ready I will happily mail it to someone else.
My tips that work for me is to keep my most favorite tools right there on the table in a bucket, basket, whatever you want. The other thing I do is organize my paper in a scrapbook paper zipper bag I have, each section is a theme christmas, summer, spring, fall/halloween, etc. so it’s easy to find those. My other paper is in a 5 drawer cart on wheels, one drawer for pattern paper, solids, scraps, then the other two are stuffed with embellishments which makes it hard to find. Thank you so much for the giveaway and I’m crossing my fingers.

When I finish a layout, it goes straight into the album. The album actually sits on my desk so it’s easy to slip right in. I also scrap what I feel at the moment. I used to get caught up on staying chronological. This took that stress away. I also clean up after every project when it’s complete. I think it gives me permission to start the next project. πŸ™‚

I have found it helpful to “kit” some of my themed materials that I only use for that theme — for example I have a Christmas box that contains Christmas themed papers and embellishments. I have also created theme boxes or kits for Halloween, Valentine’s Day and for the school albums I keep for both of my girls. This has greatly helped me in putting together my speciality and mini albums.

I love to use vintage finds to store my tidbits. Buttons, flowers, leftover diecuts and ribbon remnants go into vintage glass jars with lids (the type found in old five & dime’s to hold candy), then they are displayed in an antique glass front cupboard from my DH’s Grandpa’s store. Thanks for the chance to win!
