creating keepsakes has a new book out right now, called the organized & inspired scrapbooker. and let me tell you, it's a gorgeous book!

LAOIScover1

i'm a huge sucker for organization. and organizing scrapbooking supplies is one of my favorite things to organize. it's also a necessity. it's so easy to become overwhelmed and buried in pattern paper, stickers, and photos. and all the other goodies that we use to preserve our memories. which is why i feel it's so important to stay organized, and come up with a plan for what works for you and the scrap space that you're working with.

and this book is full of great ideas and tips. it originally came out a few years ago, and was a hardcover book. just in case a few of you think it might look a bit familiar 😉 there are 176 pages, filled with ideas. everything from finding your organizing style, organizing your supplies and tools, finding a system for your photo storage, organizing memorabilia, and so much more. and lots of photos of all different kinds of scraproom and studios.

here's a peek into a few pages from the book.

if you're thinking about ordering a copy of this gorgeous book, i have a coupon code to share with you. it's the same one that i mentioned last week, for the digital book. just use coupon code DS25DT, to get free shipping on orders of $25 or more (expires 2/11/11).

and creating keepsakes has provided me with a copy of the organized and inspired scrapbooker to give away to one lucky blog reader. all you need to do, is leave me a comment, telling me one simple organizing tip. i'll leave comments open until thursday night, and will announce a winner on friday morning.

and to go along with this theme, i also wanted to share that it is organization week (click to see what they have planned for the week) over on the CK editors blog, as well as the CK club site. check back in each day to see what they have going on.

today, on the CK blog, you'll find all sorts of tips and ideas for storing scrapbooking tools. i think i even spotted a few storage tips from my own scraproom 😉 i have a few storage and organization posts planned for this week too.

I have a nice collection of rubber stamps I use and like to keep them organized by ‘theme’. I keep the sentiments all together, the flowers, the ‘manly’ ones (Okay, I’ll admit that collection is the smallest!) and I also like to sort them by company too! I love your blog, and I’d love a copy of this book, as my family is going to be moving, and I’d love to really get my new craft room organized so I can have friends over to share in my crafting time!

I use clear storage boxes for paper and emblishments and jars for ribbon, buttons and the like but my biggest tip is to pick up as you go along. I do a quick sweep after each layout so that stuff doesn’t pile up all over the place. I’m way OCD so I’ve gotta have everything in it’s place or I’ll have a meltdown. Alas…makes for a clean house and office….thanks for the chance Laura!

I just completely reorganized my space this past weekend which I seem to do each year – I purge and end up moving things around. One new thing I did this year was by clothespin magnets and I use them to hold embellishments on the inside of a metal cabinet that has all my paper – now finally stored in vertical files. I switched all of my drawers to hold my growing collection of punches by my desk – nicely labeled so I can easily find them when I want to scrap or make a card! I am also going to get some magnet strips to put inside the other door of my metal cabinet to stick my spellbinders / taylored expressions and other dies on. That way I can see what I have and just grab and go. I have a lovely little “ribbon” tree that is made out of dowels with end caps on a stand that holds my ribbons. I change out what is on the stand during various holidays – red/white/pink/cream for Valentine’s day right now. Yummy visual inspiration! Love your blog! Thanks for sharing your studio photos! 🙂

What a great issue.I love organization tips. My best tip is to purge often. You reduce clutter and remind yourself of what you have. Only keep what you really love and give the rest to friends or a school or a girl scout troop.

My scraps are organized in ROYGBIV order in file folders that are stored in a filing cabinet. This not only helps me but my 4 kids use them for many of their school projects as well.

For all my brads and buttons, I went to the wedding section at Joannes, I bought the little party favor glass jars….with lids. I keep all my brads, and buttons in this jars, and store them in a mini cabinet.
Thank you for the opportunity to win a copy of this book, I have been wanting this book since the year it was origionally published.

I keep my colored cardstock in magazine files (the cardboard kind) and when I have scraps I put them (by manufacturer) into a hanging file- keeps the scraps organized! 😀

What an awesome book! One tip I use for my Stampin Up markers is storing them in clear, plastic DVD cases. They fit perfectly and are easy to grab and go.
