I managed to get another layout created on Tuesday, as the adorable little dude in these photos stayed home for his first birthday! They grow up so stinkin fast!

When Kerri Bradford first sent me her new Here Kitty Kitty kit, I wasn't in a huge rush to open it. After all, I don't have a cat, and if I'm being totally honest, I'm not even a cat person (sorry if you are one!). However, I knew that there would be pieces in the kit that I could still put to good use.

Like this title. It was the first thing that caught my eye in the kit. And I knew right away what I would use it for. A layout about one of my adorable little daycare babies. Mateo is one of the most adorable little boys you'll ever meet. And we tell him that over and over, all day long. Every two minutes, you can hear us saying "you are soooooooooooo adorable"!

I chose my colors based off of the colors of Mateo's shirts in a few of the photos. My patterned papers are older papers from Basic Grey, in red, blue, and yellow. I actually went looking for a ledger paper for my background, but then I came across this gorgeous embossed cardstock and had to use it. I love the texture and interest it adds to the background.

I have this assortment of products and tools laying around that have been so generously sent to me, and I've been meaning to play with them. One of them was this fun star border metal die from Die-namics. It's six inches long, so I ran it through my Cuttlebug twice, so I could make a full border across the page.

I also used a few stamps from Technique Tuesday. I honestly can't remember the last time I have stamped on any projects. I have some great stamps, and TONS of fabulous ink pads. I have no clue why I don't use them more. Usually, I will test out several shades or kinds of ink pads before stamping on a project, so that I get just the right one. I grabbed one ink pad and stamped right onto my layout. If I had taken a bit more time, I would have chosen a little bit darker shade of brown.

I also used a metal burst die from Die-namics, designed by Laina Lamb (who I was on the Jillibean Soup DT with a few years ago), to create a few accents on the page. I folded a few in half, and stapled them over the top edge of my layout, and then I layered a few together to fill in an empty space on the page.

I also dug out some older star rubons and some newer tiny wooden stars, both from Studio Calico. I went with the brown woodgrain stars, so they were very subtle on the background cardstock.
