• today is alyssa's 14th birthday!!! i say this every single year, and i will continue to say it every year, over and over. i seriously have no idea how these years have gone by so fast.

    Alyssa_6months_resize

i keep telling her "i'm pretty sure that just yesterday, you were like 4 years old". lol! she's not 4 in this photo, but just a tad bit younger. lol! i had to show this photo of her, from when she was 6 months old. adorable!

    Farmshoot_03_edit2_resize

and here she is at 14 years old. an amazing, smart, talented, giving, good-hearted, awesome young woman. i'm so proud of her, and all that she's becoming. have a fabulous birthday, baby girl!

  • have you heard the news? the vintage groove jewelry collection, by making memories, is now available at select michaels stores. this morning, i went to the modesto, CA store, and set up the display. so any of you local to me, go check out my handi-work. and the rest of you can check out this list, to see if there's a michaels store by you that will have the jewelry.

    Vintage_groove
and for those of you that are not fortunate enough to live close enough to one of these stores, remember you can also purchase the collection HERE. after unpackaging and hanging up all that jewelry, i'm now feeling the urge to make something pretty of my own. might have to make a little time for that today πŸ˜‰

  • first up, the winners of the stampin up stamp sets. i used the random number generator, and it choose #8 and #26. congrats joanna and michele! email me your mailing addresses, and i'll get those sent out to you this weekend πŸ™‚

I love the color book idea. It sounds like it would be super helpful. And thanks for doing such a neat giveaway! Posted by: JoannaG | September 22, 2010 at 06:10 AM

yesterday, one of my projects went up on the making memories blog. i used my slice and the bon appetit design card, to create 3 fun little frames for the kitchen. you can see more photos of the frame set HERE, and even watch a video about how they were created. and in case anyone is wondering, the colorful frames are from target πŸ™‚

  • towards the end of the summer, deneen and i wanted to get our girls out for some photos. a friend of her's lives on a farm here in town, and she had given us permission to come and wander around for some fun photo spots. we packed my girls and two of deneen's girls up, for a very impromtu photo shoot. i finally got around to editing some of the photos today, and wanted to share some. there's quite a few, since there are four girls and i wanted to be fair. keep in mind that heather and holly are twins, so you might think you're seeing the same cute face over and over πŸ˜‰

    Farmshoot_05_edit_resize

and i have to add my disclaimer about the coloring on these photos. for whatever reason, typepad sucked some of the color out of my images. they look SO much better on my computer, and how i edited them. i know, i shouldn't even worry about it. but just want to put it out there, that they look richer and have brighter colors in person πŸ™‚

  • i have another layout from the tools & techniques issue of scrapbooking tips & tricks magazine to share with you. this is a favorite of mine πŸ™‚

    Stampin_up_assignment
i got to work with some fun new things from stampin up on this layout. the color coach is a new tool to help in the color selection process. "let this coach help you put together custom color schemes to express your unique creativity. whether you want a quick reference of all colors in a collection, a card for every color, or blank cards to record your own color combinations, this swatch book is for you!"

the color combo that i choose to work with was tempting turquoise, old olive, and pumpkin pie.

    Trendy_sisters_page1

i wanted to use these photos of the girls that i took at the beginning of the year. they had pulled these outfits together on their own. the same exact thing, just in opposite colors. the dug out sunglasses, bracelets, a necklace, and even fun colored hair pieces. the biggest reaon that i love these photos so much, is because it shows how much fun they can have together when they want too. how well they can get along. and how happy they can be.

    Stampin_up_assignment_inks_stamps

my lovely ink pads in the coordinating colors for the papers. and the 2 stamps that i choose to use. the woodgrain background stamp is from hero arts, and the polkadot flower petal is from stampin up. there are more flower petals in the set, but i just wanted to use the polkadot one.

    Trendy_sisters_detail

i stamped the flower petal in all three colors, numerous times, onto white cardstock. then cut each one out, leaving a little white border around each. i adhered the first petal, and then just kept layering them around, overlapping the center points just a tad bit. you can barely see it, but i have a turquoise metal rim tag in the flower center. then adhered the polkadot flower, and the button with mini brads in the holes. i created the stem from a doodlebug paper frill, tieing some string around it for a little added interest.

    Trendy_sisters_page2

i layered a printed transparency sheet on top of the green cardstock. the transparency has small green leaves going all across it, and added a nice suble touch to the cardstock.

    Trendy_sisters_detail2

i used the woodgrain background stamp on the orange and turquoise cardstock strips. using the same color ink, gives a nice tone-on-tone look to it. very subtle. then i added some fun ribbons. the orange gingham ribbon is one of my absolute favorites from making memories. the black velvet rick rack, and the turquoise lace trim are both from rusty pickle (no longer in business. sorry).

    Stampin_up_giveaway

my generous friends at stampin up, have given me these 2 sets of stamps to give away to two of my lucky blog readers (one for each winner). i have the "vintage voque" set, and the "tiny tags" set. both are clear mount, rubber stamps. if you'd like to have a chance for these, just leave me a comment and i'll randomly draw a winner on friday morning πŸ™‚

  • i have a layout from the tools & techniques issue of scrapbooking tips & tricks magazine to share with you today. i have quite a few things from that issue to share actually. i might be tossing up quite a few layouts on the blog this week πŸ˜‰

    GCD_chipart

my assignment involved using the new chip art tool by melody ross, for GCD studios. the basic idea of this tool, is that it debosses chipboard. if you watch THIS VIDEO, it gives you a good look at the steps involved in this technique.

to get started, you need a few tools and accesories. the chip art block, a chip art mallet, a chip art spray bottle (you could use any spray bottle, but this one does have a perfect mist to it, and it's cute), and a tool handle (there are two sizes, depending which stamps you're using). they also sent me the sparrow uppercase alphabet set to work with (which includes the tool handle), along with the medium chipboard shapes and the medium chipboard frames

    First_day_of_class_page1

since i only had the alphabets to work with, i decided to do a school layout. these photos are from the girls first day of school, last year (2009). i know this  might not be typical school colors. i go with what the girls wear, and their backpacks. so last year, it was pink, green, blue, and purple.

    First_day_of_class_detail2

i thought this large chipboard frame would be cute with the alphabet stamped all around it. this did take me a while to do, since i had to switch the letters one by one as i stamped them. and yes, the mallet is loud. there's nothing quiet about this tool. lol! i then misted the frame, in small sections at a time. you want to moisten up the chipboard a little, but you also don't want it too damp. then i used the mallet to stamp the die into the chipboard, creating a "debossed" look.

after i went around the entire frame, i was ready to paint. i choose to go with purple, and i'm pretty sure i used two coats of paint. i wanted the letters to be white, so i mixed up some white paint with some mod podge. took some experimenting on the ratios, since i couldn't remember exactly how it was done. i ended up with 1/4 paint, and 3/4 mod podge. i brushed that mixture over the frame, getting it in all the debossed areas.

then i used a paper towel to wipe off the excess. this left the white paint in just the debossed areas, and lightened up the purple paint a little bit. which was good, since it was a little bright to begin with. then i did brush a layer of just mod podge over the frame, to give it a shiny look.

    First_day_of_class_page2

i'm not sure i should even tell you how many times it took, to get this piece right. lol! i started with an entirely different shape. i was eyeballing if the "alyssa eighth grade" and "sarah fifth grade" would fit like i wanted. and messed up on that once. i also spelled "eighth" wrong once, and didn't realize it until i was done doing the paint and everything. i think i spelled "fifth" wrong once too. doesn't help when you're working backwards, even though i wrote it on paper to try and help me. lol! but as you can see, i did eventually get it all done right πŸ˜‰

and i had to show this too. this is the necklace that i made with the chip art tool at CHA, last january. they were doing these for their make and takes. my good friend lynn was working it, and i could always find the booth by listening for the hammering. lol! we used the chip art rectangle metal pendant accesory kit and the butterflies ornamental stamp. i really, really love this necklace. i just think the style is fun and casual, which suits me well. i really need to get some more of the pendant accesory kits, so that i can make some more of these. and a random piece of info? i LOVE these jeans πŸ™‚

  • it's been two weeks since my last "random tidbits: facebook style" post. which means it's time for a new one. i've even added in a few photos, to break up all the wordage πŸ˜‰

never have i had a 2 yr old say "hi" and "bye" to me so many times in one day. little molly is constantly greeting me as she runs by. she even says "bye" when i go in the bathroom, and a big "hi there" when i come back out.

i survived my snack bar shift at the football game tonight. i'm actually perfect for the job of working the window. probably from all these years of taking food and drink orders and demands from the kids around this joint, and serving on them hand and foot. lol! actually enjoyed doing it, and will be back next week πŸ™‚

tonight it all about editing photos. i'm so behind. i have folders and folders, that i just uploaded and never even sorted through. am determined to get them caught up.

i have all of 11 emails in my inbox. and yet, i still feel the need to clean it out. maybe i'll feel better if i delete my trash folder. i know it deletes itself every weekend. but i still like to empty it. lol!

heading out to back to school night at the high school. i have to follow alyssa's class schedule to see all her rooms. every time the bell rings, i have to make it over to the next class on her schedule. i'm already walking like a crippled wingnut today. cross your fingers that i don't get lost along my route. lol!

spent 3 hours at the high school tonight. back to school night was actually a lot of fun. the band performed for half an hour. the choir performed a glee song. and i went through alyssa's entire schedule, classroom by classroom. 7 periods, in an hour and a half. and i'm now exhausted from my "school day". lol!

i love how the makeup companies are designing makeup to go with your eye color. i simply buy the eye shadow kit for green eyes, the eyeliner for green eyes, and the mascara for green eyes. they have simplified my life more than they'll ever know πŸ™‚

i'm exhausted today. been taking it easy with my tweaked back, and doing all the icing and stretching. but just walking around the house, or standing up to do anything. it takes such effort, that it drains me. i might just lay down soon and call it a night.

note to self. tried a new hair color today. rather than my usual cinnaberry color, i went with nutmeg (aka. dark brown). apparently, on me, nutmeg means more of a light black. a little too dark.

MHS football game tonight was an awesome game! won on a touchdown in the very last second! the band did an incredible job too!Blog_resize3
long morning on the soccer fields. sarah's team won 7-1, and she had a ton of assists. alyssa's team won 3-2, and she scored 2 goals. another great week! (she's #14, in the blue)

    Blog_resize2
this is just a portion of what i'm working on today. updating the school albums with last years stuff. starting a plan for 8 years worth of soccer photos. finishing my travel layouts and memorabilia from scrapbooking trips i've taken. random piles of layouts to put away, paperwork to file, product to find homes for, yada, yada. and taking photos of everything i'm doing, so i can blog it later πŸ™‚

the power went out tonight and we thought the world was going to end. i know, it was only about 20-30 minutes. maybe a tad bit dramatic. but shows you how little we ever deal with this stuff. lol!

    Blog_resize
found this photo on my laptop. i think this is from when i accidently hit the self-timer button on my camera. and i just held it off to the side to let it snap what it wanted, so i could go back to what i was doing. a fun capture of my scrap desk yesterday

naptime got cut short by a fedex delivery. my regular dude knows NOT to ring the doorbell. i miss my regular dude 😦 although i guess a fun box sort of makes it ok.

absolutely no offense to the little ones that i'm spending my day with. but i am bored out of my mind today. i'm going stir-crazy, and am so desperate for adult conversation that i might stop the next random person that walks by my house, just to chat. lol!

i need to pick up a fall tv preview magazine or something. all these new shows coming on, and i have no clue what any of them are about. so i'm recording them all. and will have to weed through to find what interests us.

β€Ž2 soccer games down. alyssa's team tied 2-2, with alyssa scoring a goal. sarah's team won, 2-0, and she had a great assist. sarah's team has one more game this afternoon. sarah's team tied their second soccer game today, 1-1. all the girls did great today! (she's #5, in the black, and scoring a goal in this photo)

  • i have been working on updating the girls school albums this past weekend. i started out taking photos of all the pages, so that i could show you what i've been adding to them since i originally shared the albums (HERE). then it crossed my mind that a video might be nice, to sort of walk you through the album. just a few things before you watch this. excuse the shake. i'm NOT a videographer, and had to steal one of the girls small video camera's to shoot this. and i talk with my hands all the time. so when the camera is shaking, i'm more than likely talking to you with my hands, even though you can't see them. i say "actually" a lot. and apparently, "eventually" is a term i use for when i will finish things that i havn't gotten around to doing. it cut me off at the very end, because the memory card was full. but i was pretty much done, and i'm not good an ending things anyways πŸ˜‰

i think i covered the set-up of alyssa's album in pretty good detail in the video, so i won't show you pictures of all of her pages in her album. but i did want to point out one of the new things i added to their albums recently.

    Alyssa_8thgrade_1

i added in some 6×12 page protectors. i have a few different brands, so anything will work. i cut some sheets of kraft cardstock in half, so that they were 6×12 in size. i had a lot of band concert programs and play programs, that i've collected over the years. i had been slipping them into the large pocket page. but i thought it would be fun to include them in their own page protector, so that they were more visible.

    Alyssa_8thgrade_2

i used the same idea for both the band concerts programs and the play programs. i simply stapled the second page to the kraft cardstock, so that you can still flip the program open to read inside. and you can also flip the program up, so that you can read the backside. for the concert programs, i stapled two onto each side of the kraft cardstock. i just did the bottom one first, and then layered the top one slightly overlapping it. for the play program, i also adhered some of our tickets from when we went to see the performances.

    Alyssa_8thgrade_3

and i happen to have some newspaper clippings, with photos of the play from the local newspaper. so i stapled those to the backside of the play program. just a really simple way to add these things into the albums.

    Sarah_5thgrade_1

i can't just show you alyssa's album, since that would NOT be fair. that's how it works here in this house, anyways. lol! here is a look at sarah's 5th grade year, from last school year. this is her pocket page, with a sampling of her work. an additional thing that i added to her pocket, was her medal that she received for perfect attendance. for the record, alyssa got perfect attendance too, but their grade didn't get a medal. bummer.

    Sarah_5thgrade_2

some of sarah's work that i pulled out, to save. sampling of her work, spelling tests, math sheet, a few journal's, some artwork, reports, etc.

    Sarah_5thgrade_3

this is something extra i added to sarah's album. it's a CD envelope, that came from the becky higgins baby kit, from a few years back. i just checked the creating keepsakes site, and it actually looks like they still have these in the store, HERE.

    Sarah_5thgrade_4

a few of the 5th grade classes, did a "thriller" performance at the beginning of the year. it wasn't a special tribute to michael jackson or anything, since these teachers have been doing this for years with their students. but they practiced for 6 weeks, and put on a great show for us. i had gotten a CD of the performance, and wanted to include it in her album. and this little CD envelope was a perfect way to do that.

    Sarah_5thgrade_5

her class photo, in an 8.5×11 page protector.

    Sarah_5thgrade_6

report card on the backside of the class photo. and then a few page protectors, to hold awards that she received during the school year.

    Sarah_5thgrade_7

    Sarah_5thgrade_8

i also include the report that shows how she did on her STAR testing, which is the california state testing that all students do here, every year.

    Sarah_5thgrade_9

then i added a 6×12 page protector, with her band concert programs.

    Sarah_5thgrade_11

next up, is her school photo. this page comes just like you see it, with the grade printed down the side. and i just added an 8×10 photo.

    Sarah_5thgrade_10

then the last page is where we'll write down things from the year that she wants to remember. we just havn't gotten to that yet. not sure why, but i don't have a first day of school layout for her. i have one of the girls together, but not of just sarah. when i get around to that, i'll add that after this page. and i want to do a layout with the photos from their thriller performance. and then i'll add in some divided page protectors, to hold any additional photos from the year.

i get asked a lot about these school albums all the time. and everyone wants to know if they can still get the becky higgins school kit. nope, they're not available anymore. those were from a few years ago. well, i take that back. you can occasionally find them on ebay. i searched for them tonight, and found about 4 listed, that have about a day left on their bidding time. so you could check that out. BUT. i do know that she has a new school kit in the works. not because i have any insider info, because i dont. lol! but because i read her blog everyday. i hope she doesn't mind, but i copied this info directly from her blog for you:

Q: Please tell us about the new school kit. When is it coming?
A: Yes, we are developing a kick-bootie school kit. A lot of thought is going into the organization and system and design and everything. It’s going to be very fool-proof, user-friendly, perfect for the non-scrapbooker, and will cover all school years, from preschool through high school, in one kit. Plus, it’ll be versatile enough for homeschool use and even students outside the U.S. The next round of Project Life kits (yes, that’s plural) should be available in time for the holidays this year. Since that has been a priority, the school kit will be come out after Project Life. The plan is early 2011. You know this is the place to come for all the latest scoop.
  • i finally got around to scrapping my trip to utah, from two years ago. this was a trip that my friend deneen and i won, from the golden ticket contest that creating keepsakes put on, back in 2008. we won a 2 night, 3 day trip to utah (which we turned into a 4 day, 3 night trip). we got to visit the CK offices, meet the staff, have a personal tour of the offices and have lunch with lisa bearnson (the founder of the magazine). we also worked in a visit to the making memories offices, lunch with a bunch of great internet friends, and some awesome warehouse sales. i blogged every detail of this trip, which can be seen HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.

    Utah_trip6

since i was so great about blogging the trip as it happened, and including all the photos in my posts, we thought for sure that we would have this trip scrapped right when we got back home. we even had a plan of sorts. we had some papers and embellishments picked out to use. we had plans of doing mini albums. i actually do think that deneen started her's. i remember her showing me something not too long ago. but i never did get around to it. but as of this past weekend, i can say that it's done. different from what i had originally planned. but i'm happy with how it turned out. this is how my stack of stuff looks in my album. love the varying sizes of page protectors going on.

    Escape_for_an_adventure_spread

i decided to use the pack your bags collection, from little yellow bicycle. i loved the bright colors, and their collections always have so many embellishments to chose from, that make putting layouts together so effortless. since the majority of our photos had a lot of dark colors, i chose to chance them all to black and white. i know black and white can still be dark. but it opens up all sorts of color choices, when choosing products.

    Escape_for_an_adventure_page1

since i had a lot of photos, i printed the majority of them in the 2×3 inch size. i love that size photo. and then i chose two of my main photos to print as regular 4×6 prints. i lined up two rows of the 2×3 photos, going across both pages of the layout. so i was able to fit 16 photos on here, in addition to the two 4×6 photos. so 18 photos total.

    Escape_for_an_adventure_page2

once i adhered down the photos, i started building the page around them. adding some strips of pattern paper below the 2×3 photos, and also above them. adding a larger piece of pattern paper to the top half of the layout. i carried all the papers from one page to the other, so that it all tied together.

    Escape_for_an_adventure_detail

i added a fun journaling page to the top corner of the first page, where i knew i was going to add my title. i picked out two fun chipboard titles, and combined them along with some letter stickers, for my title. on the "escape" piece, it had two notches at the top. so i added some blue twill through them, along with a few mini brass brads. makes it look like it's hanging from the top of the layout. then added a fun arrow sticker, a chipboard car sticker, and a clear airplane piece.

    Escape_for_an_adventure_detail2

if i ever too the time to plan ahead, i could easily have put four 2×3's on a 4×6 canvas, and print as one 4×6 photo. then i would have just adhered four 4×6 photos, going across the page. which would still give you those same 16 photos. but i wasn't that prepared. so i printed these all as 4×6's (with 4 smaller pics on each), and then cut them all apart, arranged them on the layout how i wanted them, and then adhered them down.

    Escape_for_an_adventure_detail3

i adhered a fun journaling page, and hand journaled my top 10 memories from the trip. i know i have "lunch" on there twice. but we had a great lunch with lisa bearnson, and then a great lunch with our friends. also added some cute chipboard suitcases. i didn't feel the need to journal too much on my layout. i already had a plan for getting the story in the album.

    supplies:
LYB pack your bags blue woodgrain paper, LYB pack your bags compass paper, LYB pack your bags orange hexagon paperLYB pack your bags 6×6 decorative edged paper, LYB pack your bags chipboard embellishment stickers, LYB pack your bags favorite pieces cardstock stickersLYB pack your bags clear cut shapes, LYB pack your bags epoxy stickers, LYB pack your bags journal tablet, LYB pack your bags word chipboard stickers

    Utah_trip9

i'm so glad that i took the time to blog about every single part of this trip, as it happened. not sure about you all, but i forget most of the things that happen in my life. lol! i love that almost two years later, all the details were there on my blog to look back on. i simply copy and pasted all my journaling from those four blog posts, into a word document.

i wanted to use ali edwards, the story of today 8.5×11 overlays, to go with my journaling. i found it easiest to print the overlay onto white cardstock first. i then set up my journaling to fit the empty space on the overlay, by holding up the paper to the screen and doing some eyeballing and measuring. yes, i eyeball and measure all at once. i'm talented like that. lol! once it was set up, i printed my journaling right onto the cardstock page with the overlay on it. and i did use the correct days overlay, to go with what day of the trip it was.

    Utah_trip8

for example, the journaling here is from friday, december 5th, 2008. it prints the day in bold print, and then i simply circled in with a pen. i hand wrote the date on the bottom. then i added a strip of coordinating pattern paper (from the layout) to the empty space above the date. i ended up with 5 pages of journaling, all taken from my blog, word for word. i added those to the album, in 8.5×11 page protectors.

    Utah_trip1

even though i got most of our photos onto the two page layout, i still wanted to include the original photos in the album. that may seem redundant, to have them in there twice. but this was a very special trip, and i wanted them in there. plus, i might scrap a few of these photos again. i have always had the intention of scrapping about winning the contest, or getting those two golden tickets, or meeting lisa. or doing a layout about some of the great friends that i've made online, and about meeting them in real life. so the photos are here, and when i'm ready to scrap addition pages, i know exactly where to find things. and if i don't get around to extra layouts, everything will still be here, in one spot.

    Utah_trip4

had to include my golden ticket, signed my lisa herself.

    Utah_trip5

we totally missed out on having lisa bearnson sign anything for us, after meeting her and hanging out at lunch with her. so we later emailed and asked if she could possible sign something for us. she wrote us little notes on 4×6 pieces of white cardstock, and mailed them to each of us. and see that "loved seeing your published work"? i'm curious if she looked me up at some point, after meeting. i remember mentioning it at our lunch, about how i had submitted for years and entered every hall of fame contest, without any luck at all. guess my luck turned around months and months down the road, when i finally caught someone's eye at CK πŸ™‚

    Utah_trip2

i used the 12×12 divided page protectors, by we r memory keepers, to hold all the photos.

    Utah_trip3

such great friends, that i was so happy to meet in real life for the first time. loved spending time with industry friends that "get" what it's all about, and the craziness of what we do.

and last, but not least, were the odds and ends that i still had from the trip. my plane ticket, a utah road map, my luggage tag, the hotel room key, the envelope that the golden ticket came in, and a few 5×7 photos that i had already printed. i wanted to keep this all together, so i stuck everything inside of a 6×12 page protector, by american crafts.

i think that about does it. that was a whopper of a post. lol! and stay tuned, because i have another post planned for tomorrow. it's a big one. school album related. and it might even include a video πŸ˜‰

  • i was planning on sharing how i scrapbooked the trip i took to utah 2 years ago. finished the layouts, printed the pages of journaling, took photos of everything. and then the power went out tonight. it was only about 30 minutes. but that never happens to us, and it threw us off the rest of the evening. lol! so i'll be sharing that on wednesday. instead, i'll share a two page layout with you. i know a lot of you asked to see more 2 page layouts. and lucky for you, creating keepsakes magazine has really been focusing on 2 pagers for quite a while now, because they know it's what their readers want. so the majority of my assignments for them are 2 page layouts πŸ™‚

as seen in the July/August 2010 issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine. copyright creative crafts group. posted with prior permission from the publisher.

i got asked to do this assignment last january. the magazine knew that i was attending the winter CHA show that month. they were going to choose their top picks of the show, and then have a few designers create projects with those products. on the last day of the show, i kept asking the editors if they had chosen their top picks yet. i was anxious to see what i was going to work with. but i had to wait until i got home from the show, and a few weeks later, the new queen bee collection from pink paislee showed up on my doorstep.

when i first saw this collection at CHA, i thought it was gorgeous. and the decor for that part of their booth was incredible. the flowerbed, and display area, for this collection was one of my favorite parts of the show. but. i wasn't sure it was my style. i can appreciate something being gorgeous and pretty. but i also know what comes naturally to me. and i wasn't sure what i would do with this collection.

then i remembered these photos i had taken of michaela. michaela was my very first daycare baby. she was only about 4 weeks old when i started watching her. i also watched her older sister, alison, who was about 2.5 years old at the time. there's just something about babies that gets me. some more than others (sorry, is that bad to say?). and she was one that just stuck on me. i could eat her up, loved taking care of her, kissed and snuggled on her baby rolls (and she had TONS of rolls. lol!), and just truely bonded with her from day one. even though they've been gone from our daycare for years, they're still a part of our lives. we don't see them often, even though we live super close to each other. but when i do see them, it takes me right back to why michaela was a special one to me.

once i had these photos picked out and printed, the rest of the layout just fell together. and i was able to play with all the gorgeous product in the collection, without thinking twice about any of it. i think i managed to use a little bit of everything they sent me. the pattern papers, die cut paper, glitter chipboard alphas, ribbon pleats, flip notes journal, bella brads, cork buttons, punch out die cuts, the press ons, and even the 6×6 pattern paper pad. i was pretty proud of myself for working so much fun stuff on these two pages.

for the flowers, i used the ribbon pleats. they come in a long strip, 12 inches in length. but you can easily shape them into a circle, or how ever you want to work them. once i got it in a circle, i added a bella brad to the center of a cork button, and added that as the center of the flower. for the stems, i used the parenthesis from the chipboard alphas, and just trimmed them into a stem and leaves.
