a few randoms things for today . . .

  • the dark, dreary, rainy weather is killing me! makes me not want to do anything. except curl up in a blanket … because i am totally freezing. and it’s not doing any wonders for my hair. i had it all straighened on tuesday and looking fairly good … then i made the mistake of loading up the 3 little ones to walk to school to get the big ones. and it started to sprinkle. and then my hair went frizzy and poofy. sucks. i went straight for a hat today … that way i don’t have to even deal with it.
  • i feel bad because the girls don’t have any heavy winter coats. i just don’t think to buy them … because it’s not like it gets that cold around here. i never wear heavy coats … just a lightweight zip-up hoodie sweater … that’s the most i ever do. but i feel like i need some jackets for the girls to wear to school. unfortunately i checked a few stores last night … and no jackets! apparently january is NOT the time to be buying a winter jacket … although the swimsuits are out in all their glory!!! lol!
  • remember i mentioned the dude came to repair a leak that we had in the house … and how he retextured the wall? and how i told him that i would take care of repainting it … because i’m just nice that way? i’m thinking about taking bets on how long it will take me to actually paint it! those are the kinds of things that end up taking me a year to get too. i have many, many things in the house that just need to be "finished". we had some friends that put up these old wooden shutters in the doorway to our master bathroom (can you believe we didn’t have a door put on there?) … but they had to be painted since he refinished them. 5 years later … and they’re still only half-painted.
  • i never mentioned this … but we had a death in our family a few weeks ago. yes, we lost one of our fish. i know i mentioned this months ago … that i secretly wished they would just "jump" out while i was cleaning their bowl. guess what happened? yep, cleaning their bowl and one of the fish just slipped right out and went right down into the disposal. i’m really weirded out by the garbage disposal … i refuse to stick my hand down there in fear that it will suddenly turn on. i’m also weirded out by fish … i can’t stand to touch them. so needless to say … i was not about to go searching around down there for him. lol! i had hoped that no one would notice … after all, i’m the only one that even bothers with them. but sarah noticed within minutes. they are now telling people that "mom assasinated our fish". lol!
  • did you catch the MM blog on monday? they shared some fun new layouts using the new 5th avenue collection that should be shipping out any day … and there was one of my layouts on there. i did the layout for another project … so i wasn’t expecting to see it on there. and it even has me and joe on it! you won’t find your faces on too many of my layouts. lol!
  • last night i watched lucky you with drew barrymore. not a bad movie. but super long … and it felt long while i watched it. lol! i’m all about the chick flicks. and it did have a little bit of "chick" moments … a little romance and stuff. but it was mainly about poker. and i know nothing about poker … so i was lost half the time. lol!
  • speaking of movies … i’ve seen a few more good ones these past few weeks. i’m not a big movie watcher … i just don’t make time to sit there. i loved in the land of women … with adam brody and meg ryan. suburban girl with sarah michelle geller was a little different … but kind of cute. i have sydney white downstairs right now … havn’t watched it yet, so i can’t give my opinion. but these are the kinds of movies i like … you know, the chick flicks. can’t forget the nanny diaries … the part at the end when the mom writes to the nanny "i’m proud to say he asks for you a little bit less every day" … i think i shed a few tears thinking about all my kids out there that have moved on from me. the waitress with keri russell … seriously good movie … another one that made me cry. and a departure from my usual style of movie … but joe made me watch shattered … which was an excellent supsense movie.
  • how did this turn into a movie review post?!?! if you ever want to know about a movie … ask joe. he’s the total movie buff … he’s seen just about everything out there. lol!

now that i spent all that time searching for movie links … i’m too tired to think of much else right now. i hope to be back with some pictures soon. my camera hasn’t seen the light of day in ages … probably because there is no light lately around here. lol! till later!

I’m sorry about the fish. In the garbage disposal? EWWWWW!!! Gross!!! I’m with you, I’d never put my hand in there either!
Love your “random” posts Laura! I appreciate the movie review…I’m the world’s worst at watching movies as I don’t have the patience to sit that long! Total ADD! I do a million other things and end up missing half the movie so why bother! But I do like a good chick flick so will jot down the names of a couple you talked about, so thanks!
Hope the rainy weather stops soon! If it helps ya feel better, it’s the same way here!

    Laura,
I hear you with the coats. Seriously. OK, so its freaking -3 degrees here and I went shopping for a coat today(I know that most are sold out)with no luck. I also needed something to wear to a b-day party this weekend. Everything was sleeveless! hello??
May I suggest LLBean for a coat? They have wonderful products. We buy most of our coats there. They rate them by temperature (like subzero, etc) and you can return them anytime you want and get all you $$$ back. Maybe you should get one with a “shell” liner…that way when its really cold, the girls can wear the whole thing and when it warms up, you can remove the fleece inner liner. That way you have 2 coats.
Oh, and I did see you LO of course. Gorgeous. Um…and I saw your LO in Feb Scrapbooks Etc. So I’m looking at it and oohing and aahing about how cute it is and then I see your name on it. Congrats. you are so humble. I would be bragging about it all over my blog!!!
    Stay warm!!

I wouldn’t stick my hand down the disposal for a fish either! Ugh gross!!
You could try Land’s End for coats–they’re having a pretty good sale right now & they have some really warm coats!
I have the same hair problem when it rains. I can’t stand the rain! I always feel cold even in the summer when it rains! Nevermind how dreary it is!
Got my new Scrapbook’s Etc yesterday & saw your familiar LO! It put a smile on my face! Gotta love seeing your work in print! Congrats on that!!
My Joe is pretty much the same as your Joe when it comes to movies! He’s got a DVD collection that’s swimming with over 400 movies….He’ll watch some movies over & over & over again!
    Keep warm…hope the rain stops….

i can totally relate to your coat problem, but on the flip side . . . i’m so glad g doesn’t need swim diapers anymore . . . don’t try to buy THOSE in august . . . 😛
and i can relate abt the garbage disposal too . . . i have superbad thoughts abt what might happen to me if i stick my hand down there . . . fish don’t bother me though since my dad and bros are commercial fishermen . . . grew up around the slimey things . . . 😀
and i did not like lucky you . . . major snoozer . . . which was sad for me bc i usually adore drew barrymore movies . . . did you see “music and lyrics” ? now that was a good one . . . 😀

Ever since I received my MM Insider email edition for Jan 08, I’ve been clicking on the five blogs listed and I just love reading yours – it’s always up-to-date with fun tidbits of this and that and great LO’s 🙂 I’m posting for the first time because I was laughing at your fish story the whole time. My kids begged for fish and the novelty wore off after a couple of months so you know who feeds them and cleans the tank! Everytime they ask for a dog, I ask who will feed it? They just look at me w/o a clue of my sarcasm 🙂
