i hope you've been checking out "education week" over on the MM blog this week. all week long, there have been some great new ideas for different products and tools. today is my turn … and my assignment was to use the Slice in a new and fun way. i know, i know … i'm a lucky girl to have such a fun assignment! here's a peek at what i came up with … but you have to go check it out HERE on the MM blog to see the rest of it!

 Education_week_slice_happy_girl_detail1

and yesterday … just for fun … i decided to do another layout using the same idea. except i decided to go with the hearts … loving the hearts lately!

removed for publication

i grabbed one of the first photos i came across that i thought would work … which was a photo of haley. and then i just randomly picked a jar of flowers and buttons. they happen to be the 5th avenue ones … so that's what i went with (the beauty of working with a black and white photo!). i don't like to mess around too much picking out product and embellishments during the day … because my studio area is right by the little ones napping. and you know i don't want to wake anyone before they're ready. lol! so i just grabbed a few things and made it work.

here's where i would probably give you more details. but if you go read about my first layout on the MM blog … i think you'll understand what i did with this one and get all the details. but feel free to ask any other questions if you want!

Once again, amazing work. I stand in awe most of the time at your creativeness. God just did not give me that type of gift – I guess I’m gifted in other areas – makes the world unique! Have a great weekend, Laura! Be blessed!!

Just love these layouts. I often use punched out circles to highly patterned paper though cardstock, but never thought of filling them up with buttons and flowers. Such an easy way to use up all those bits and pieces. Thanks for the inspiration.

Wow…your talent and attention to detail is what makes you stand out. You really make your designs come to life and inspire me to step out of my box. Job well done!!!
On your second layout. i love how you used the hearts. Funny I just came home with silver and gold balls like yours on the hearts. I was thinking they would look cute on Christmas trees for card. Thanks for your SWEET ideas. My love for hearts and swiss dots will lead me to store this idea for making a card or layout.
Have a great weekend!!! Again, great job!!!

Love both laura! Just got back from the MM blog. I love how you used the negative space. When I think about the slice, I think about cutting out shapes and then adhering them on. Love this idea.
I especially love the colors of the 5th avenue LO!! Perfect arrangement…and my favorite trim of all times!! TFS!

Hi; I love these layouts Laura! What embossing machine do you use? QVC has the Sizzix today and I’m thinking about getting it because I love how you have been using embossing on you pages lately.
Thanks for letting me know what you use.
