i used to do these "randomness" posts all the time. need to remember to do these more often. so here we go. a different sort of version of the randomness. 10 totally random photos from the past two months, and their stories.

IMG_4209_edit_resize

alyssa and her dad bought this little dude yesterday. it's been a while since we had a hamster in the house. the girls have actually been asking for another hamster for ages now. they must have caught me on a good day, because i said "yes". they're still trying to decide on a name.

IMG_4109_edit_resize

in fact, i dug out this photo of the last time we had a hamster here (sarah is holding him in the photo). august of 2007. and look at haley! she's so tiny, and only about 9 months here. so stinkin cute. just looking at this photo, i'm having an "awwwww, how did my daycare girlie grow up so fast" moment.

IMG_0880_edit_resize

this photo is from the band concert back in december. but alyssa was chosen to participate in honor band this year. they had about 70 jr high students, from about 10 different schools in the city. they practiced one night a week, for a month. they had the honor band concert about 2 weeks ago, and it was incredible. seriously, they sounded so amazing. i wish i had gotten photos that night.

IMG_0862_edit_resize

sarah was in the band concert in december too. you can almost tell that she's holding an instrument in this photo. lol! but she is. she's learning the flute and is sounding better each day. her BFF, tawny, is also learning the flute (along with another BFF, vanessa). and see that boy, poking his head out next to tawny? that just happens to be one of nikolas's brothers 🙂

joe's getting geared up to start umpiring again. he's had some meetings, taken and passed the super long written test, and been evaluated in action. as long as it doesn't rain this week (which it's supposed too), he starts actual games this week. i think he has 4 of them on the schedule just this week. so he'll be super busy.

IMG_4212_edit_resize

alyssa scored a part in the drama production that the jr high will be performing in a few months at school. she was in it last year too, and i was so impressed with the show they put on. this year is "alice in wonderland", and she'll be playing the part of "small alice". there are 3 alice's in the play, and one of her BFF's is "big alice".

IMG_4177_edit_resize

my island photo of the week. can you tell what i'm working on? sure, there's a few layouts up there. i'll share those next week. but mostly, it's tax stuff. boring, but it has to be done. i had a years worth of receipts that i was sorting and itemizing. i made my appointment with the tax people for next weekend. figured it would force me to actually get everything ready.

2009_1128_Trinitas_0041_edit_resize

joe's been trying to fit in some golfing, before he gets too busy umpiring. not even sure when this photo is from. my brother just happened to send me some photos he had from one of their days out.

alyssa went zip lining back in december, with her dad and her grandpa. will have to share more pics another day. i'm scared of heights. and yet i think it would be so much fun to do this. we're going to have to make a point to go sometime. but sarah's not old enough yet, so we'll wait for her 🙂

IMG_4110_edit_resize

not the greatest photo of either of us. but i'm sharing it anyways. our disclaimer? it was like 8:00am in the morning. i hadn't done my hair yet, or half my makeup. nikolas is doing  his new smile, which consists of closing his eyes really tight and actually thinking he's smiling. anyways. my point to this photo, was that i've been wearing my hair straight for over a week now. first off, i'm amazed at myself for actually figuring out how to straighten it using only a round brush. second off, it's growing on me. it's a lot easier than the curls, to be honest. although i keep asking the family, "what do you REALLY think of the straight hair". lol!

IMG_5972_edit_resize

and consider this a bonus, eleventh photo. just in the last few days, the almond trees in the orchards out here have blossomed. it's crazy how quickly it happens, and how quickly they'll disappear. i really want some new photos, just like the ones i got last year. hoping the weather permits and we can get out there this week. i think i'm even going to make a little blue tutu and take haley over there :)

These are all such photos! You should name the hamster “dude”. I think it’d be cute.
You know I love your hair like that…I like it curly as well. But that is such a change.

These were fun pictures to see. I like the break in between scrapping things. We just bought a hamster today for my Renee so that’s funny that you just got one. We are still thinking of names. Congrads to your daughters being in drams & honor band. Renee is trying out for honors chorus soon. I like your hair straight, it’s a different look. I started strightening mine this fall and it was hard to get use to. Just got a haircut today and did it short and curly so very different again. Please show us more orchard pics, they are amazing. Thanks for sharing fun pictures with us. Think I might do that to, hope you can do it again.

Great photos! I really like your straight hair. I have really straight hair and would love to have curly like yours some time. Isn’t it funny how we always want the opposite of what we have. 🙂

Great pics! I love the hamster! I finally broke down and let my kids get Zhu Zhu pets, ha ha…do you hit up the almond orchard down the street from you? I am always scared of getting caught sneaking it them! When I was a kid, we got kicked out by more than one farmer when we would trample their orchards on horseback!

Loving the photos and I think the straight hair looks great. I just started straightening with a round brush and blow dryer recently as opposed to using the flat iron. I like it a lot better:)

I’m terrified of heights too, but zip lining is different. You feel secure in the harness and the speed keeps you from thinking about the heights. I really loved it! 🙂

Each time I see the photo of the hamster I keep thinking his name should be “Mr. Kisses” He looks like a little Hershey’s Kiss to me : ) . I also like the straight hair.
