i was getting ready to type up this blog post, and realized something. you're going to have to see my face on 3 layouts, 3 days in a row. i do appologize, since that seems like too much of one thing. totally wasn't planned. lol! but i'm also proud of the fact that i do scrap about me, and have an entire album full of layouts about myself. i think it is important to make sure we get pieces of ourselves in the albums too. and you'll be happy to know that these next 2 will be paper layouts. i think it's cute that so many of you are worried that i'm going digital on you all. i'm certainly not. i promise 😉
going to give you some insight into how i scrap sometimes. i might have mentioned this before. but i don't usually start with a story to tell. sometimes, i don't even start with a photo in mind. i'm very product driven. and this is how this layout came to be. one of our CK dream team sponsors, little yellow bicycle had generously sent over their new lucky me collection. of course, i wanted to use it (every single piece on this layout is LYB). i'm not a huge saint patricks day fan. meaning, we don't do anything special for it, or celebrate it, other than wearing green. but i loved the colors of this collection. and it had a ton of pieces that could be used for any type of layout.
so i started pulling out the papers i wanted to use. i had no clue what photos i was going to use, or how many photos. i just started building my page, with the cardstock and pattern papers. added the fun die cut swirl and the ribbon and gems. it was at this point, that i thought about this photo. it was taken by the super talented jenny weston (who is in charge of me at MM), while i was out in utah at the making memories offices last november. i had printed this photo for something else i was going to do, and never got around to it. it matched the products on this layout-to-be, and it was printed and ready to go. those are huge pluses in my little world. so onto the layout it went.
i added the blue pattern paper circles to add some more color and interest to the bottom part of the layout. and this chipboard embellishment just sort of fit on that circle. so there you go, my title is chosen for me. this layout is still totally un-thought out up until now. the photo just sort of landed there by accident. the title piece is chosen strickly because it was a good fit. "lucky". ok, i can work with that. i have things that i consider myself lucky to have. my journaling comes last 95% of the time. and it's always based on what my title ended up being. it's just how i work. once i choose the title, then i base my journaling on that. might be backwards for some, since i know a lot of scrappers start with a story or something they want to say.
and just something interesting that i noticed earlier today. my eyes look blue in this photo. maybe jenny was editing my eyes to match my shirt. or maybe they took on a blue tint. but they're really green. as in super green. which will be a clue to what tomorrow's layout is about ;)
