First Day Of School

Once again, it's time for the first day of school for these two girls of mine. They've been on summer break for almost 2.5 months, and I'm pretty sure we are all ready to get back to the craziness that is the school year.

Alyssa is now a Junior in high school. Still not sure how that happened so quickly. She was up before 6:00am, and out the door at 7:00am. I wanted to take just a quick photo before we left, but being up that early, we didn't quite get the good lighting.

Sarah is now in 8th grade. Her last year of Junior High. That's even more weird to me, thinking about how she'll be joining her sister at high school next year. She didn't have to get out the door until a little after 8:00, since she just has to walk across the street. That meant she got some fabulous light.

We always take our official "first day of school pics" after school. Or even a few days after. I just find that it's too hectic to get those pics before school. I was lucky enough to get these!

    these look GREAT! yes, it was hectic to get those pictures but they sort of expect it…SO fun!

    Can I say thank you? I love first day of school photos, and I am always scrambling and crazy trying to get the perfect shot on an already crazy day.
    This year I am going to enjoy the first day for what it is and take pictures later. Whether it be after school, or a few days later. 🙂

    These are lovely, Laura! You are so blessed to have girls who cooperate with getting these kinds of pics! I always get the back of the backpack as we head out the door or the top of their heads when they’re getting their shoes on. They are just not cooperative about having pictures taken. I really need to figure out a better way! Thanks for showing that it is possible!

    I always insist on first day of school photos but i have learned to “cheat” a little since the first morning is so hectic. The kids pick out their outfits the day before and we take them the afternoon/evening before the first day in the outfit they’re going to wear. This also helps with the “what am I going to wear” panic! lol Can’t believe your kids have started already my youngest won’t start until September 5th (my older 2 both start college on August 27th).
