It’s CHA Winter 2015 reveal time over on the Bella Blvd blog! There are 4 new collections, along with new embellishments and specialty papers. We started the reveals yesterday, and will be continuing all the way thru Friday of next week. Today we are sharing the new Star Student collection!
I created this layout for the catalog, which means I get to share it with you today! When I saw the chipboard title "super smart", I immediately thought about these photos of Alyssa from 8th grade graduation.
I started this layout with mock up product that I had picked off screenshots from the office, so somehow, I ended up picking a patterned paper that is actually a bonus paper. The new collection kits will all have a bonus sheet of patterned paper in them, so this blue dotted paper is one of those. I really love it though against the black.
I love that there's a new white grid patterned paper too, as it's such a "basic" in my book. I use the grid papers ALL the time. And it's great for school themed projects.
I did tons of machine stitching on my CHA layouts. Mainly because I love the way it looks and how much it can add to a layout. The bonus is that it really secures everything in place! This layout went through a lot, for various reasons, and parts of it were torn apart and pieced together several times. I'm pretty sure it weighs about 4 pounds now. Lol.
There are a few new sets of basic chipboard in this release, and I was so happy to see new chipboard borders and chipboard stars. I cut the green scalloped border in half, sanded down the edges a bit, and used half on each side of the layout. A few of the chipboard stars are from the Star Student chipboard set, and the other star is from the new Hearts & Stars chipboard set (will be revealing those in full next week).
I wanted to use a scalloped border of the aqua star patterned paper, but I wanted it to match the scalloped border sticker I used at the top of the layout. Since I originally started this layout using some mock up product, I used the "sticker" that I had cut out by hand, and traced it onto the aqua star paper, which I then cut out by hand as well. I wish I had a border punch that would mimic the scalloped border stickers found on the Bella sticker sheets.
Head on over to the Bella Blvd blog, HERE, to see the entire collection, piece by piece, and to enter the drawing for a chance to win-it-before-you-can-buy-it! The randomly chosen winners for ALL of the reveal giveaways will be announced on Sunday, January 11th.
